Active Discovery

"I want my nonprofit site to clearly show how our kits and programs help kids in need — who we serve, what we provide, how people can help — and present it in a way that builds trust and inspires involvement."

Active Discovery is a nonprofit website built to showcase kits and youth programs that provide underprivileged children with tools for play, learning, creativity, and growth. From bilingual activity books to physical education games, the site uses strong storytelling, real testimonials, and impact statistics to show what the organization does and why it matters. Clear donation and partner-paths are built in, making it simple for visitors to contribute or get involved.

The Challenge

Active Discovery wanted more than a “charity brochure” website — the client needed a platform that could tell powerful stories, demonstrate measurable impact, and facilitate action (donations, partnerships, volunteerism) in a way that’s both emotionally engaging and easy to understand. Here’s how we built it:

Impact-First Design & Storytelling: The “What We Do,” “How It Works,” “Our Impact & Reach,” and “Testimonials” sections work together to show both qualitative and quantitative evidence of success. Visitors immediately see how many Active Discovery kits have been distributed, the geographical reach, stories from kids, parents, and community partners, and videos that bring the programs to life.

Clear Navigation & Program Differentiation: We organized the site around different offerings (Youth Programs, Emergency Support, Kits, Possibilities Program, etc.), making it intuitive for different audience types (donors, community partners, parents, schools) to find what’s relevant. Each program has its own page, details, and call to action.

Engagement and Action Paths: Because a nonprofit depends on people helping, we built strong “How to Help” funnels: sponsor a kit, partner, donate, donate product, get involved. There are partner / team account logins, which let organizations become part of the network and perhaps manage their participation. Calls to action are visible and accessible on all pages.

Authenticity & Trust: Using real testimonials, imagery of programs in action, bilingual materials, sharing stories from the field builds credibility and shows transparency. The manifesto and “why we matter” sections ensure visitors understand not just what the organization does, but why it matters and how it makes change.

Beyond a Template / CMS: Rather than a generic template, this site has custom content types for stories, kit features, program types; dynamic statistics that update; media integrations (video, images in “in action” galleries); clearly defined donation logic; and a partnership login system. These all require deeper design, planning, and development than what most site-builders or stock themes provide.
